Get your business cited when professionals ask Claude
Claude is the assistant a lot of South African professionals now keep open all day — consultants, developers, accountants, analysts. When one of them asks it to shortlist suppliers, Claude searches the web and cites what it reads. We work to make sure your business is in that shortlist, as part of our AI SEO services in South Africa.
Claude cites sources it can fetch, read and verify. That means four things must be true: Anthropic's crawlers must be allowed to reach your site, your answer must appear as plain readable text near the top of the page, your claims must be specific enough to quote and consistent with what other reputable sources say, and your site must show genuine depth on the topic rather than one thin page. Claude is notably cautious about recommending anything it cannot substantiate, which rewards businesses that publish real detail — prices, process, areas served — and penalises vague marketing copy. Bunnypants builds all four, from R2,880 per month.
How it works
Claude is harder to convince — and that's the opportunity.
Every assistant selects sources. Claude is noticeably more reluctant to recommend a business it cannot substantiate, which changes what you need to publish.
When a question needs current information, Claude searches and retrieves real pages rather than relying only on what it learned in training. Your live site is what gets read.
"Award-winning and passionate" gives it nothing. "Packages from R2,880 per month, minimum six months, serving the Vaal Triangle and Gauteng" gives it something it can safely repeat.
If your website, your Google Business Profile and a directory listing say different things about what you do or where, Claude tends to soften or skip the recommendation entirely.
A connected set of pages that genuinely covers a subject beats one long page that touches everything. This is the same pattern we see across every assistant.
The technical part
Anthropic runs two crawlers, and they are not the same.
This catches almost everyone out, because blocking the wrong one removes you from Claude's answers without you ever knowing.
The general crawler that gathers web content. If your intention is to keep your content out of model training, this is the one you would restrict.
Fetches a page because a person in a conversation asked something that needs it. Block this and you cannot be cited in a live answer, no matter how good your content is.
Many businesses block every AI crawler in one sweep to protect their content from training. Doing that also removes them from the answers their buyers are reading. It is a business decision, and it should be a deliberate one.
We check exactly which Anthropic agents your robots.txt and security plugin currently allow, explain the trade-off in plain language, and configure it to match the decision you actually want to make.
Worth knowing: crawler names and policies change as the platforms evolve. We re-check these on live client sites rather than relying on documentation we read once, and this page is reviewed each December alongside the rest of the cluster.
What we do
The work that makes a business safe to recommend.
We establish which AI agents can currently reach you, including both Anthropic crawlers, and set them deliberately rather than by accident.
Prices, minimum terms, areas served, what is and isn't included. The details most websites hide are exactly the details an assistant needs to recommend you confidently.
The direct answer at the top of the page in plain text, so a retrieval-based assistant finds it in the first few hundred words rather than the last.
Website, listings and profiles saying the same thing about your business. Contradictions are the most common reason an assistant hedges instead of recommending.
Connected pages added every month around the questions your buyers actually ask, so your authority compounds instead of resting on one page.
We ask Claude real buying questions on a schedule, keep dated screenshots of what it says, and watch analytics for referrals. Honest evidence rather than a dashboard number that doesn't exist.
Being straight about this one
Why we built this page before the demand arrived.
We checked our own Search Console across every export in July 2026: not a single South African search for Claude visibility help. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
Eighteen months ago there were no searches for ChatGPT or Perplexity visibility either. Today those two account for over 17,000 impressions in our account alone.
Claude skews toward professionals and businesses — consultants, developers, analysts, agencies. Fewer people, but a much higher proportion of them are decision-makers.
Claude visibility is not a separate service. The same foundations that make you citable by ChatGPT and Google's AI make you citable here. This is coverage, not an upsell.

Straight answers
Questions about Claude visibility.
- Is it worth optimising for Claude in South Africa?
- Not if you measure it by search volume today — we found no South African searches for Claude visibility help in July 2026. It is worth it because Claude visibility comes free with the work that serves ChatGPT and Google's AI, and because Claude's users skew heavily toward business decision-makers. You are covering a growing surface at no extra cost.
- What is the difference between ClaudeBot and Claude-User?
- ClaudeBot is the general web crawler. Claude-User fetches a specific page because someone in a conversation asked a question that needs it. Blocking ClaudeBot restricts your content from training; blocking Claude-User removes you from live answers. Many businesses block both by accident when they only meant to do the first.
- Should I block AI crawlers to protect my content?
- That is a genuine business decision and we will not push you either way. Blocking protects your content from being used in training. It also removes you from the answers your buyers are reading. Our job is to make sure you understand the trade-off and that your settings match the decision you actually intended.
- Can you show me how often Claude cites my website?
- No, and nobody honestly can. Anthropic does not publish per-site citation reporting the way Microsoft's Bing Webmaster Tools does. What we do instead is ask Claude real buying questions on a schedule, keep dated screenshots of the answers, and watch your analytics for referral traffic.
- Why does Claude seem more reluctant to recommend businesses?
- In our testing it is noticeably more cautious about stating things it cannot substantiate. That is a disadvantage if your website is vague, and an advantage if it isn't — publishing real prices, terms and areas served gives Claude something concrete to work with, and most of your competitors don't.
- What does Claude visibility optimisation cost?
- It is included in our monthly AI SEO packages, which run from R2,880 to R22,320+ per month excluding VAT, priced by how many keyword areas and regions you target. Minimum engagement is six months. There is no separate Claude fee.
