Pretty much any company that has lasted for 10 years or more has changed their logo at least once. That’s a testament to how trends are shifting from one to another through the years. This is caused by various reasons, one of which is the rapid change in technology trends.

Some logo trends only last for a few months, which is unfortunate for those who use them. However, some last for a few years, then disappear and make a comeback several years later.

Clean compositions, straightforward typography, and lack of decorations will continue to dominate the trend. Versatility of uses is what makes simple emblems so popular among companies. The minimalist design remains perfectly recognizable across a variety of surfaces, from mobile-app-icons, to banner ads, to business cards. A lot of big-name brands are stripping down their logos to make them more edgy and memorable. With trends that focus on revitalising minimalism and classical compositions, from perspective techniques to simple shapes to symmetry.

As with this logo of our lovely client VDW Tax Consultants, the logo was stripped down to the bare minimum, yet very trendy and recognizable. We added a little bit of letter destruction to the icon of the logo, presenting the main letters of this company. With monochrome colours, this was a perfect fit.

Audiences love hints and implications, and it would be a pity not to use this to our client’s advantage! We just had to try this beautiful and mystifying trend. The letter destruction technique is all about leaving letters unfinished or creating letters form lines forming a concept or icon. At the same time, you need to make sure your design is still readable. You don’t want your customers to wonder about your company name, do you?

But in this case, it was a perfect win! For us, and our client!

In 2021, prepare to see more striking logos with minimalist effects!
